Field Trips

The kids love to explore and that can be stressful. Menagerie field trips are slow endeavors that can range in length depending on the needs of the kids. Kids can be unpredictable in new places. Our outings are structured around that unpredictability. The goals of our trips are unconventional.

First, and foremost, the aim of these outings is familiarization with the environment. Particular exhibits, or anything that requires the child's attention, are not the focus or the expectation.

Exploration is paramount. The children are permitted to explore and encouraged to ask questions. If they are drawn to exhibits and attractions interactions are facilitated for optimal engagement. This approach is especially effective with children experiencing symptoms of Oppositional Defiance and Persistent Demand Avoidance.

Store outings

Shopping with kids can be stressful at times. Shopping with kids experiencing sensory overload or discomfort can be extremely challenging. The kids are taken out on multiple outings over the course of the week. Home Depot, Walmart, Gronis, stores big and small, patient and consistent visits help acclimate the kids to the sensory bombardment that is inevitable in those places.

Destination Excursions

Once a month we make it to one of the attractions the surrounding areas have to offer. Deanna Rose, Wonderscope, and Science City are a few examples of places we explore and experience.

Childhood is a magical time.

Sometimes, I can set up everything perfectly and the kids just aren't having it. Somedays the kids are out of sorts. Taking the kids for a drive can help the kids turn the day around.

To get to all of these wonderful experiences the children are Chaffered in the comfort and safety of a 2018 Ford Transit.
