Too Hot for Outside

The weather in Leavenworth, KS can be brutal.

In the summer heat indexes occasionally exceed 115. In the winter the wind chill can reach -15.

Unfortunately, there aren't any places in Leavenworth where the kids can free play on hot or cold days.

While the library hosts events and there are classes at local shops, as good as they are, these aren't places where the kids can play freely. 

During these days, when it is too hot to even play in the sprinkler, inside play kicks up to a whole new level. 

We play inside games like hide and seek and the floor is lava.

The kids also get to play completely unstructured. All of the toys and stations are open for imagination play. It gets loud and messy. Forts everywhere, toys everywhere all of the stations meld together to create one big wonderland. It can look like chaos. And the kids love it. 

As winter approaches there are exciting plans to replace the traditional couch with The Nugget. The Nugget is a modular couch system that can be assembled in many different configurations. It's designed to provide hours of creativity and gross motor movement!
